Biogas plants are primarily designed to generate electricity and in most cases are not able to use the potential of the produced heat. Any heat demand is so far that the construction of heat pipeline is not economical. The heat produced in the biogas plant takes place all year round and there is practically no possibility of such heat all year round use. For these reasons, waste heat is frustrated at the coolers. However coolers consuming electricity increase technological consumption of biogas station and reduces the supply of electricity to the grid and thus revenues from the operation of biogas plant.
Technology of BEP company uses waste heat for the production additional electricity. E-Rational ORC unit is installed to the engine cooling water circuit. Part of this water circuit is also flue gas heat exchanger for cooling the the flue gas going into the atmosphere. E-Rational ORC unit is able to work with the same temperature drop that needs cooling circuit of CHP. The result is a total and efficient heat consumption.
Such a solution delivers savings in electricity consumption needed to run CHP cooler. Furthermore, there is no performance degradation of CHP in a warm summer time, since motors have no problem with cooling.
